Description

Business logistics consists of 13 activities, all of which provide value to customers as well as the organisation that is facilitating such services. This course in logistics management introduces students to the complex and exciting world of business logistics and how it can be used to provide an organisation with a competitive advantage in the marketplace. You will also gain insight into the broader field of logistics, looking at aspects such as waste management, reverse logistics and investment recovery.

Subject Matter Expert

Dr Myles Wakeham is an academic and businessman with many years of industry experience. He holds an MBA and PhD, and has taught extensively in the fields of supply chain management, operations, marketing and business.

Dr Wakeham was instrumental in introducing and adopting the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply at CPUT as a series of qualifications.

He has consulted to a variety of institutions and organisations, particularly the South African National Treasury, as well as National, Provincial and Local Government. He is also involved in international research, and with an academic consortium has researched the impact of IT on university education.

    Identifying and explaining the various modes of transportation and their typical strengths and weaknesses

    Describing logistics customer service within the context of the marketing mix and discussing the elements of the SERVQUAL Model and various service gaps relating to it
