Description

This course will provide you with an overview of Excel’s programming model and provide a solid grounding in many of the day-to-day solutions afforded to Excel power-users. Skills that you will gain include, filtering and presenting management data from a variety of sources, reading and analysing data, and using reporting tools and functions, including Pivot Tables.

Subject Matter Expert

Fred Benbow-Hebbert is an independent contractor with 23 years’ experience in the Microsoft client/server environment using Visual Basic, VBA programming of Excel, Access and [JB1] Outlook, and ASP/JavaScript/HTML/XML for web applications.

He specialises in reading databases with either VB6, Access or Excel front ends, depending on the amount of data-set manipulation required (Excel for the most complex).

Fred worked in London from 2001 to 2004, contracted to a newly established subsidiary of the personnel recruitment giant Pertemps. He continued to work for the company from Cape Town, until 2014.

    Using the function wizard to show required arguments, executing some useful functions and implementing scenarios and What-If analyses
  • MODULE 5 | Week 6 Basic Macros
    Enabling macros, revealing the developer tab and exploring the use of column filters for dynamic reporting
  • MODULE 6 | Week 7 Databases
    Illustrating the scope, type and uses of macro variables, learning the basics of Structured Query Language (SQL) and connecting Excel to SQL databases
